Call for papers
Logic is an independent research area, however
its significance in science depends on its possible applications. Cognitive
Science is an area where applications of logic are especially needed and
welcomed.
Probably not all logical investigations relate directly
to Cognitive Science. The organizers are not going to limit the scope of papers
to be submitted. We encourage everyone who finds his research results
important to Cognitive Science to participate in our Conference.
In particular we invite submissions on paraconsistent
logic, logical agency, nonmonotonic logic, computability theory, epistemic, deontic and modal logic, fuzzy
and many-valued logics, logical structure of natural language.
Invited speakers: Witold Marciszewski and
Ryszard Wójcicki.
Submissions should be sent to Rafał Palczewski
(rpalcz@umk.pl) before March 1, 2010.
Deadline for registration and payment: April 1, 2010.
Papers presented at the conference will be published in a special issue of Logic and Logical Philosophy.
The Conference is organized by Department of Logic at Nicolaus Copernicus University, Toruń, Poland.
At the same time two other
related conferences concerning philosophy of mind and artificial intelligence will
take place in Toruń. All three events are parts of the project called Argumentation
as a Cognitive Process. We hope to
gather broader audience consisting of logicians, philosophers and computer
scientists among others.
